2010, graffiti has become a global movement and a multi
million industry in graphic-, fashion- and media design,
however the original movement centered around painting
the trains is still very much alive, as new generations
of artists arise every year, facing evermore zealous
prosecution by authorities and increasing challenges
getting around armed security forces, CCTV systems,
alarms, guard dogs and other protection measures
installed around private and state rail property.
Under the very serious threat of being electrocuted,
run over by passing trains, seriously beaten, shot,
robbed, fined thousands of euros in damage, arrested and
jailed for months or even years on a single offense, to
this day, the more brazen graffiti artists still risk
life and liberty painting thousands of colorful,
impressive works of art on the surfaces of a vast array
of train systems.
Their efforts always met by an equally impressive
countermovement, trying to stop the artists in their
tracks and keep the art from the public eye at all cost.
Showing stylish art on trains and daring performances
europewide, "Graffiti Artists" is a vivid, raw
atmospheric portrait of part of the underground graffiti
movement from a purely aesthetic point of view.
Documenting the never ending daga of the artists surge
to glory as they aspire to achieve legendary status
amongst their peers and enemies alike.
Proving no mission to be impossible an no system to be
safe.
