Description

“Street art” is one of the sure values of contemporary creation and its market. But should we forget the diversity of expressions of urban culture? “Graffiti” is exactly one of these expressions, but perhaps the least known, the most used, though the foundation of all the others that will follow. In addition to the easy imagery and the boisterous mediatization, artists have been developing original writing for crunchy years. Their language is “writing”. A vocabulary that they use, pervert, recycle, forget in turn, to create a dynamic of new forms. This book portrays sixteen international artists, brought together by Lokiss, a historical and controversial figure in the European script. Written in the open air, simultaneously and in the four corners of our continent, this visual manifesto deploys a contemporary panorama of this urban expression, through the creations made for the project. They are the subject of a photographic decryption engineered by Lokiss himself, revealing the ongoing work of these innovative artists. The declared urgency is to enter the gaps where art history has never dared venture, and to meet those we see without seeing and who have nevertheless marked entire generations of artists. In these underground chapels, which street art does not cultivate, he likes the conformation of advertising codes and light.
