When Cargokult 1 was released in 2015 as one of the first European books on freight trains, we were instantly hooked. As fans of the Vienna based blog we immediately tried to get our hands on some copies. We were impressed by the love to detail which the beautiful publication had to offer. The well balanced mix of atmospheric shots from industrial areas and pieces by writers like BARTO, K100, MOBEE, KATDOG, LOVZER, T.BONE, and many more were set within a quite layout to increase the attention the reader pays to every single photo.
Back then Cargokult 1 was the first publication we included to our stock, which was not done by ourselves. It paved the way for us to become not only a publishing house, but also a shop that features books and magazines which match our philosophy of creating print publications. The book’s aesthetics from well chosen paper to the screen printed cover still make it something unique.
If you’re into thought-out concepts of graffiti related books, we can only recommend to check out Cargokult 1. Looking back from today the publication did not only present a by then relatively new subgenre of writing, it also captured the ‘clean train era’ in which passing freight trains often only had four or five pieces on them.
