The second golf war and other geopolitical conflicts dominated the daily media. The music of Prince, Jackson and Madonna, as well as Guns n’ Roses was played on all channels and functioned as the sound-track for a society, which was only one step away from entering the digital world. In the city of Zurich people were still forbidden to dance on Easter, the suburban railway just started up and the funding of style-writers was as offbeat as a Bratwurst in a vegan takeaway. Hip-Hop was raw and to me – apart from “Star Wars” – the most inspiring universe I knew.&nbsp;<br></em><br></div><div><em>Planet Rock - T273<br><br></em>Das Buch Pretty Zeecity retrospective entstand aus dem Bedürfnis, geschichtsträchtiges Bildmaterial aus den Anfängen der Graffitikunst im Raum Zürich zu bewahren und für die Öffentlichkeit zugänglich zu machen. Es basiert auf einem sehr persönlichen Rückblick auf das Damals-Erlebte und ist insofern eine von der eigenen Wahrnehmung geprägte Retrospektive ohne Anspruch auf Vollständigkeit oder Objektivität. Das Buch versteht sich als Teil eines Ganzen, als Fragment zur Ergänzung bereits publizierter Werke, die sich ebenfalls der Dokumentation und historischen Aufarbeitung der Zürcher Street Art verschrieben haben. Die Werke und Erinnerungen, die darin festgehalten sind, zeugen von Erlebnissen, die definitiv als nicht alltäglich bezeichnet werden können.&nbsp;<br><br></div><div><br>&nbsp;Die ganze Geschichte spielt noch im letzten Jahrtausend, kurz nach der deutschen Wende und zum Ende der Apartheid in Südafrika, anfangs der 90er Jahre. Der zweite Golfkrieg und andere geopolitische Konflikte dominierten das mediale Tagesgeschehen. Die Musik von Prince, Jackson, Madonna oder der GunsN‘ Roses liefen auf allen Kanälen und lieferten den Soundtrack für eine Gesellschaft, die auf der Schwelle von der analogen zur digitalen Welt stand. In der Stadt Zürich herrschte an Ostern noch Tanzverbot, die S-Bahn nahm gerade ihren Betrieb auf, und das Sponsoring von Graffiti-Writern war in etwa so abwegig wie die Bratwurst in einer veganen Imbissbude.
